A Deranged Marriage (Genesis 3:1-16)

The Fall affects marriage in vital ways, twisting all six of the C words from session 1.
I. Marriage was created to be climactic; now it's seen as overrated (Gen. 3:4-5, 9-12).
II. Marriage was made to be complementary, with two equal image bearers ruling together, recognizing our differences, but that gets turned upside down (v. 6, 16).
III. Marriage was created to be covenantal, but we fail to leave and cleave.
IV. Marriage is meant to be close, but that intimacy has been broken (v. 7, 16).
This series has grace "end-loaded"--the good news will be seen most clearly in the next session. If we see our need to repent (not just someone else's need), if we confess that we have broken this good gift of marriage, if we see our need for a Savior to rescue us, then we do have good news: Jesus is exactly that kind of Savior!
