Kiss the Son: The Reverent Parent (Psalm 2:1-12)

Kevin Dibbley, August 7, 2026
Part of the Laurelville 2026 series, preached at a Laurelville service

Kevin Dibbley's series on parenting begins with Psalm 2's call to turn from "the dangerous riptide of rebellion" that lurks in the human heart. Part of being a Christian parent is letting our children see us running to Christ with our sin.

I. We need a greater emotion than anger: the fear of the Lord (Ps. 2:1-6).
II. We need a greater determination: God's declaration that he will save a people (v. 7-9).
III. We need a higher aspiration: not earthly success for us and our children, but to please and honor Christ in everything (v. 10-12).
