An Arranged Marriage (Genesis 1:1-2:25)

David Theobald, August 6, 2026
Part of the Laurelville 2026 series, preached at a Laurelville service

Dave Theobald's series on marriage is grounded, not on a list of "tips and tricks," but on the conviction that the gospel of Jesus Christ and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit is what strengthens and improves marriages.

Six features of marriage according to God's good design:

I. Marriage is climactic (Gen. 1; Gen. 2:18-20).
II. Marriage is complementary (Gen. 2:21-22).
III. Marriage is to be celebrated (Gen. 2:22-23).
IV. Marriage is to be customary (Gen. 2:24).
V. Marriage is covenantal (Gen. 2:24).
VI. Marriage is close (Gen. 2:25).
