Why Should I Forgive? (Philemon 1:19-25)

Michael Argabrite, March 20, 2022
Part of the Philemon series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

What moves the forgiven heart to forgive others?

I. A heart that has been worked upon by the Spirit knows that I owed a debt I could not pay (v. 19).
II. A heart that has known forgiveness sees that I can be a blessing to others by forgiving (v. 20).
III. Faith in Christ produces obedience to Christ, including in forgiveness (v. 21).
IV. Forgive, because I will be accountable (v. 22).
V. Forgiveness isn't finally about us, but about others, about the church (v. 23-24).
VI. Forgiveness can't be done in our own strength (v. 25).
