The Stump and Root of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1-12:6)

Mike Yates, December 24, 2015
Part of the Christmas series, preached at a Midweek Meeting service

With judgment fast approaching (Isa. 7-10), the Lord would keep His promises:

I. David won't stay cut off (11:1)--not only a son of David, but a new David will come.
II. This King will be filled by the Holy Spirit (11:2).
III. He will be the faithful King (11:3-9).
IV. He will gather His people out of every nation (11:10-11:16).

And so our refrain, as we see the Christ, the stump and root of Jesse, the fulfillment of every promise, our song is that of Isaiah 12:1-6.
