Parenting in Community (Psalm 127:1-5, 2 Timothy 3:1-17)

Kevin Dibbley, August 9, 2026
Part of the Laurelville 2026 series, preached at a Laurelville service

Parenting is not only repenting and pursuing; it is also partnering. The church is meant to walk together, helping each other along as we raise our children, because God has put us into the body, failures, inadequacies, and all, to encourage and teach each other. He gives our fathers and mothers in the faith.

I. The foundation of gospel family: Only God can build and sustain a God-fearing family (Ps. 127:1-2).
II. Children are a good gift from God; they are not our gift to God (Ps. 127:3-5).
III. Parenting in the family of God (2 Tim. 3)
IV. Living as God's family gives us the opportunity to model Christ-likeness (2 Tim. 3:10-15).

The church is not *like* a family; it *is* the family of God.
