Faith or Law (Romans 10:1-13)
Michael Argabrite, February 18, 2024Part of the Great Is Thy Faithfulness: Romans 9-11 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
The reason people don't come to faith in Christ is that they choose some kind of works-righteousness over the righteousness Jesus provides by faith. In Romans 10:1-4 Paul elaborates: there are zealous people who talk about God, pray, do good, moral things, but they don't know the true God who is known only in Christ! Let's let both kinds of righteousness speak:
I. Righteousness by Law: You must live perfectly from birth to death--but you have failed before you were born, because you are Adam's offspring, and anything not done by faith is sin (Rom. 10:5, 14:23).
II. Righteousness by Faith: God has done it all. Christ has come down, he has done everything required for our salvation. Don't insult him by trying to add your own efforts, but believe that he is enough (Rom. 10:6-13)!
