"One Anothering": Living as the Church (John 13:34-35)
Mike Yates, September 28, 2014Part of the Elders and Deacons (Sunday School series) series, preached at a Sunday School service
Any discussion of elders and deacons needs to be in the context of the whole body. Why are we here? If we are to proclaim the glory of God, as revealed in the person and work of Christ, we can't do it alone. That's why the NT gives us 40+ commands related to "one another:"
I. The Umbrella: "Love one another"
II. Under that umbrella, many ways to love one another:
--Putting up with one another!
--Greeting one another with signs of love
--Telling one another the truth
--Forgiving one another
--Confessing to and praying for one another
--Aiming for like-mindedness (not clones, but same goal and direction)
--Serving/caring for one another
--Protecting one another
--Building up/ encouraging/ comforting/ admonishing/ provoking one another
