An Elder's Character (Titus 1:5-9)

I. What an elder is: See a potential elder’s care for his family as a sign of how he would care for the church (v. 5-6).
II. What the elder is not: expect an elder to be dedicated to faithful service, not to power, pleasure, and profit (v. 7).
III. What an elder loves: expect an elder to love people and to love godly wisdom (v. 8).
IV. What an elder does: expect an elder to cling to the Word so that he can encourage and correct (v. 9).
