Facing Trials with Grace (Revelation 16:1-16)
Michael Argabrite, August 25, 2019Part of the Revelation series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
I. It is because of the risen, reigning, sovereign Christ who has bought his people (Rev. 5:9-10) that we can
-- Rejoice in trials (James 1:2),
-- Not be broken by temporary suffering (2 Cor. 4:16-18),
-- Not be surprised in ordeals (1 Pet. 4:12-13),
-- Rejoice that we get to share in Christ's sufferings (Col. 1:24).
II. How do we stay faithful? Because the Lamb overcomes, and his people are "the called and chosen and faithful" (Rev. 17:14).
III. We respond to trials either by worship (Rev. 16:5-7) or by blasphemy (v. 8-11).
IV. And as we respond to trials, we are comforted so that we can comfort others (2 Cor. 1:3-5).
