Improper Boasting, Part 2 (2 Corinthians 10:12-18)
Michael Argabrite, February 4, 2018Part of the 2 Corinthians series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
I. Three General Charges Against the False Apostles in Corinth:
--1. Their boasting is improper.
--2. Their self-commendation is unrestrained and dishonest.
--3. Their focus is on man and not on God.
II. Five Crucial Points:
--1. Paul refuses to permit commendations to be definitive (10:12a).
--2. Paul insists that a lack of an objective standard is foolishness (v. 12b).
--3. Paul sets limits on boasting: one's personal sphere of work (v. 13-15a).
--4. Paul lays out constraints of vision on boasting (v. 15b-16).
--5. Paul overthrows all self-interested boasting (v. 17-18).
